Find relief from distress in a shorter, and focused amount of time so that you can experience lasting change.
EMDR Intensive Therapy is a way to move toward relief and recovery from distressing symptoms of trauma and anxiety more quickly. EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) has been widely recognized as an effective psychotherapy treatment to help process negative feelings and change the way we think about ourselves and our memories. Because of the powerful healing effect of EMDR therapy, Intensives can produce faster results than weekly sessions using standard talk-therapy techniques.
What are the benefits of an EMDR Intensive?
Process more information in a shorter amount of time: Dedicate 1-4 days to focus on healing, growth, and connection.

No more weekly appointments: Stop scheduling your weeks around therapy sessions.

Make lasting change: Take care of your mind and body. Re-energize your voice!
Frequently Asked Questions
What is EMDR?
EMDR stands for Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It has been found to be beneficial for a range of concerns including PTSD, anxiety, grief and loss, depression, and pain. It works through a brief focus on the traumatic event or disturbance while engaging in bilateral stimulation like eye or body movements. You can read more here and here.
How much does an Intensive cost?
Intensives, also known as extended sessions, are $675-$900 per day ($150 per hour).
There is an additional one-time $250 fee for your intake session.
50% of the total fee is required to confirm your Intensive. The remaining 50% is due on the first day of your Intensive.
Included in your fees you will also receive an optional follow-up session and workbook to support your entire process.
How much time will I need to schedule?
You and I will determine this together during your intake session. This depends on the situation you want to focus on and your goals. I typically recommend scheduling at least 2 but up to 4 consecutive days for the Intensive lasting about 3-4 hours each day. I encourage you to leave the remainder of your day free and flexible for rest, nourishment, and gentle movement.
How do I schedule an Intensive?
The first step is to schedule a free 20-minute consultation to explore how an EMDR intensive may or may not be a fit. If we determine it is a good fit, we will discuss scheduling an intake and Intensive session(s).
What if I need to reschedule or cancel?
If you are unable to attend your Intensive, please contact me as soon as possible to discuss rescheduling. You may reschedule without a fee up to 30 days or more before your scheduled session. Rescheduling less than 30 days prior to your session may incur a $225 rescheduling fee.
If you need to cancel entirely, any deposit money already paid will be returned minus a $450 scheduling fee if the cancellation is made more than 30 days before your scheduled Intensive. Deposits are fully non-refundable if the cancellation is made less than 30 days of the scheduled Intensive.
What does a typical day in an Intensive look like?
Intensives are held virtually or in-person (Austin, TX) and take place over the course of 1-4 days.
Typically we start at 9am and finish at 12:30pm. We’ll take a break half-way through and as needed. But since this is a customized approach we can flexibly create a format that works best for you.
How do I prepare?
It is ideal if you can treat this time as a retreat to make the most of this healing work. Consider clearing your day as best you can and schedule enjoyable and nourishing activities around your sessions.
Where are the Intensives held?
Intensives are either held in-person, in your private home, in Austin, TX or virtually for those in the state of Texas. Therapist is also willing to travel to private homes in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Houston for an additional flat traveling rate of $300, regardless of length of treatment.
You also do not have to live in Austin to participate in-person. You may consider visiting Austin and making it a personal retreat experience. If you are coming from out-of-town I can provide a list of local hotels, restaurants and supportive activities. It is a lovely city close to some beautiful nature walks and water.
Are EMDR Intensives covered by insurance?
Unfortunately, Intensives are not covered by insurance.
However, you may be able to receive partial reimbursement for the first hour using out-of-network benefits, if available through your insurance plan.
I do not accept insurance, but I work with Mentaya, a platform that helps clients get money back on out-of-network therapy sessions. If you have out-of-network benefits, Mentaya will file claims and handle the insurance paperwork to make sure you get reimbursed. They charge a 5% fee per claim and have helped people get thousands of dollars back per year. You can sign up using this link.
Note: Mentaya’s goal is to save you time and money. It’s completely optional, and as your therapist I do not benefit in any way from your participation.
